Gardening isn’t just about growing plants – it’s about growing a sense of peace, community, and personal wellbeing. At our 'Grow Together' sessions, we combine the therapeutic benefits of horticulture with tailored wellbeing support, creating a safe and welcoming space for everyone.
Held every Monday from 10am to 1pm at the Trethomas Community Growing & Wellbeing Hub, these sessions are completely free and open to all. Whether you’re a seasoned gardener or a complete novice, there’s something for everyone at hub in Lower Glyn-Gwyn Street, Trethomas, Caerphilly.
The Power of Therapeutic Horticulture
Scientific studies show that spending time in nature and engaging in gardening can have a profound impact on our mental and physical health. Here are just a few of the benefits:
Stress Relief: Connecting with nature helps to lower cortisol levels, leaving you feeling calmer and more relaxed.
Improved Mental Health: Gardening encourages mindfulness, reducing symptoms of anxiety and depression.
Physical Activity: Digging, planting, and weeding offer gentle exercise, improving mobility and overall fitness.
Sense of Achievement: Watching your efforts bloom into vibrant flowers or fresh produce can boost self-esteem and confidence.
At 'Grow Together,' these benefits are amplified by our holistic approach, which combines gardening activities with opportunities for reflection, connection, and learning.
One Planet Matters: Wellbeing Through Nature
As a Community Interest Company (CiC), One Planet Matters is dedicated to improving wellbeing through nature. We believe that everyone deserves access to green spaces and opportunities to connect with the natural world.
Our 'Grow Together' sessions are a perfect example of this ethos in action. By creating spaces where people can work together to grow food, care for plants, and enhance local biodiversity, we’re not just improving individual wellbeing – we’re strengthening communities and helping the environment too.
One Planet Matters also funds free activities to ensure that everyone can benefit, regardless of financial circumstances. Our mission is simple: to use nature as a tool to build healthier, happier communities.
